Genesis 5

When Adam was created by God, he was created in God’s likeness. However, when he ate the forbidden fruit Adam came to know good and evil. Adam passed that DNA on to his offspring, all humanity. The problem that results is that we tend to gravitate toward evil and sin and thus, we do not attain to the standard God has for humanity. Since God is perfect and does not dwell with evil and sin, Adam had to leave the Garden of Eden. When Adam left the garden he was separated from the Tree of Life and God. This separation is called death in the Bible. God wants to restore our relationship with Him, but sin must be acknowledged and dealt with.

In the books of Genesis and Revelation we find the Tree of Life in heaven.  However there is a place on earth where the Tree of Life is found, the Bible, specifically in the book of Proverbs. The Bible tells us where to find life. I have been around for a long time and one thing I have come to believe is that deep down inside, we know we are meant to live forever.  Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from beginning to the end.” NASB

So we have a longing for God.  Deep down we do not want to be separated from God. God also has a longing for us, but our sin has separated us from God. So God has made a way that we might have our sin forgiven and that relationship restored. God gave His Son to pay for our sin which separates us from God so that we might have a new life and life eternally with God.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.  1John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” NASB

If you have that longing for God and are not sure where you stand with God I urge you to confess to God that you are a sinner who is in need of forgiveness.  Ask Jesus to forgive you and come into your heart by faith. Ask Him to give you a new life in Him. When we believe in Jesus He gives us His righteousness. We receive His righteousness by faith. Remember Habakkuk 2:4 says, “…the righteous will live by his faith.” NASB

May God Bless and guide.
