Exodus 32
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV
A great illustration of this verse is found in our Bible reading plan for both today and yesterday.
In Exodus 28 we see God’s plan for Aaron and his sons and how God worked out every detail of that plan. However, while God is working out His plan for Aaron with Moses, Aaron was succumbing to the fears and doubts of the people in the camp. (Chapter 32)
This can also be the case with us. In our flesh, fear, doubts, impatience, and a host of other things attempt to control us and cause us to act out. When we give in to these, disappointment and even disaster will result. When we go through these experiences it does not mean God has been caught off guard and has to scrap his plan, but it does mean that the consequences we experience as a result of our actions are meant to draw us to Him.
God knows that our flesh is weak and in our flesh we are unable to overcome the fears, doubts and so on. That is why Ephesians 2:10 says “we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus”…. Not only does God have a plan for each of us that He has prepared well in advance but He has also provided the strength and character needed to carry out that plan. We need a Friend that sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24) We need another source of strength when we find ourselves bound to others. (Ecclesiastes 4:12) We need to be connected to the vine. (John 15). I could go on but you get the point. The implementation of God’s plan in our life is dependent on our ongoing relationship with Christ Jesus. For the power needed to put God’s plan into action is created in Him.
In Aaron’s case we can see it illustrated in Exodus 29 and into Chapter 30.
