The Book of Job

In our chronological reading today we will start reading the book of Job. There is no mention of the Priesthood, the Tabernacle, or the Written Law. It appears they are still living by the Oral Law, but as we will see, there are many ways the oral Law can be corrupted by interpretation. This is why God is going to make the family of Jacob into the nation of Israel and give them the Written Law to bring to the world. It will take 400 years or so for this family of 70 to grow to two million. This is why we have put the book of Job after the book of Genesis and before the book of Exodus in this reading plan.

I will not make as many comments as we study this book as I did in Genesis. There are good lessons to be learned however.  We are told in Proverbs 8:1, “Does not wisdom call, And understanding lift up her voice? NASB  Be careful though for Proverbs also tells us that foolishness and folly call out as well. We need to develop discernment to know the difference between God’s wisdom and the ever changing wisdom of the world.

May God bless you with wisdom as you study this book.
