Proverbs 15:11
Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? KJV
We are told in Luke 6:45, A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. KJV
Treasure here means treasury or storehouse. What we store in our heart comes largely from our senses, but we can’t overlook that evil things also have a certain appeal to our sin nature. Therefore we must be careful what we expose our heart to, and what we do with it. To store evil is to bring harm to ourselves and others. This is why, as we read earlier in Proverbs 4:23, Watch your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. NASB
We are in a section of Proverbs where good or evil may only be separated with a coma and we have to make a decision as to what we store in our heart and maybe even do some storehouse cleaning!
Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against you. Psalm 119:11 NASB
