Proverbs 12:3
A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved KJV
The reason for doing this study in Proverbs is found in Ephesians 3:16-19, where Paul prays that God…would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. KJV
In the parable of the sower recorded in Matthew 13:3-23 and Mark 4:2-20, Jesus taught that the word of God was like the seed planted in a farmer’s field. In that field, there were four kinds of soil, hard soil, rocky soil, weedy soil, and good soil. Nothing grew in the hard soil, what did grow in the rocky soil died out because the environment got hot. The crop in the weedy soil got crowded out so only the good soil produced a good crop. The soils describe the condition of our hearts. The seed is the Word of God. The purpose of our study is to clear the soil so we can bear a crop for the Lord to the best of our ability.
